Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) works with Canadians in all areas of the economy and in all parts of the country to improve conditions for investment, enhance Canada's innovation performance, increase Canada's share of global trade and build a fair, efficient and competitive marketplace. Within ISED, the Audit and Evaluation Branch (AEB) responds to departmental priorities and risks and assists senior managers in enhancing the efficiency, effectiveness and performance of departmental programs and operations. With such a diverse and high-profile mandate, AEB engagements and activities offer lots of variety, challenge, and opportunities to learn. We take pride in delivering value to our department and our activities help to improve programs that impact Canadians in all walks of life.
A pool of qualified persons resulting from this process may be created and may be used to fill similar positions with different tenures which may vary according to the position being staffed. The pool created as a result of this staffing process will be open to other government departments.

Your résumé.
Education:
- Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in accounting, finance, business or public administration, economics, commerce or some other specialty relevant to the position or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience:
- Recent* and significant** experience in performing research, preparing and analyzing the results, and presenting the results to management (i.e. manager level and above);
- Recent* and significant** experience in the participation in at least two phases of internal audit engagements (planning, conduct or reporting).
- Recent* and significant** experience in developing, documenting, or assessing operational processes;
*“Recent experience” is defined as within the last 5 years.
** “Significant experience” is defined as depth and breadth of experience normally acquired over a period of 1 or more consecutive years.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada’s mandate and key priorities.
- Knowledge of Treasury Board of Canada Internal Audit Policy and Directive.

Education:
- Master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in accounting, finance, business or public administration, economics, commerce or some other specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
Occupational Certification:
- An internal audit designation, such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP), or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE); or a recognized professional accounting designation (i.e., CPA-CA, CPA-CMA, or CPA-CGA).
Experience:
- Experience in contributing to the writing of internal audit documents in at least two (2) of the following: terms of reference, audit engagement plan, audit program, risk assessment, audit findings sheet or audit report.
- Experience in using audit working paper software such as TeamMate.
- Experience performing data analytics and/or continuous auditing.
- Experience using ACL or Idea software applications.
