Founded in 1934, the Translation Bureau is a special operating agency of Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC). It supports the Government of Canada in its efforts to communicate with and serve Canadians in both official languages.

Intent of the process

A pool of candidates may be established and used to staff identical or similar positions within the Translation Bureau with various security and tenure requirements (permanent and temporary).

Education:
A master's degree in Conference Interpretation from a recognized postsecondary institution.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
Recent* experience in the provision of interpretation services.
*Recent is defined as in the past 3 years.

Bilingual - Imperative (CCC/CCC)

Translation Bureau accreditation as an interpreter.

Asset Experience:
Experience as a staff interpreter with a national or multi-lateral organization.

Operational requirements:
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours
- Ability and willingness to be on call for business continuity

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
