Assessment accommodation

In alignment with the Aboriginal Peoples Employment Program (APEP) in support of strategically increasing Aboriginal representation in areas having the most impact on program delivery and health outcomes of First Nations Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB) target population, selection may be limited to candidates self-identifying as belonging to Aboriginal peoples.

Duties

What You Will Be Doing:

Delivering the eight core programs of Environmental Public Health Services (EPHS) under the supervision and guidance of a Senior Environmental Public Health Officer and Regional Manager of Environmental Public Health to fulfill the mandate of FNIHB in First Nations communities. The eight core programs of EPHS include:

1. Drinking Water
2. Health and Housing
3. Food Safety
4. Communicable Disease Control
5. Wastewater
6. Solid Waste Disposal
7. Facilities Inspections
8. Emergency Preparedness and Response

Collaborating with a team of Environmental Public Health Officers and other health care workers in the delivery of the Environmental Public Health Program.

Travelling to various First Nations throughout Alberta to deliver EPHS programs. Travel is often for several days at a time, in remote locations and using various modes of transportation.

ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS:

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

Valid driver's licence.
Maintaining ongoing membership and certification with the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors (CIPHI).
Willingness and ability to travel to isolated and/or non-isolated communities by road or air.
