Intent of the process

A pool of qualified candidates will be created and may be used to staff similar positions on a temporary or permanent basis at the Department of Fisheries and Oceans in Moncton, New Brunswick.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
Streams 1 & 2
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in Economics, Sociology or Statistics.

Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization do not necessarily have to be part of a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCES:
Streams 1 & 2:
Experience developing, analyzing and interpreting qualitative and quantitative information* and socioeconomic policies and recommendations.
Experience preparing, developing and presenting written and oral reports or summaries.

Stream 2 only:
Experience providing advice, recommendations and support to managers or senior executives.

* For purpose of clarity, qualitative and quantitative information developed, analyzed and interpreted requires the application of a comprehensive knowledge of economics, sociology or statistics.

Knowledge of the fishing industry in the Gulf Region, such as commercial, recreational and Aboriginal fisheries.
Knowledge of the approaches and steps of socio-economic analysis.

Ability to analyze and assess socio-economic data.
Ability to communicate effectively orally.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing. (This ability could be evaluated partially or completely with the application).
