Work environment

The Data Quality Unit is looking for an experienced team member to join the PRIME Purge Team. This is a position that will initially work with an established project team to purge records from the PRIME Records Management System. You will have the opportunity to learn new things as you apply your PRIME and Information Management knowledge and skills to a new purge solution for the RCMP in BC. Moreover, the candidate will have opportunities to work on many different projects in the future within the RCMP.

The Team is located at the RCMP BC Headquarters in Surrey, BC. The office has great amenities (which includes gym facilities, in-house cafeteria, and basketball court), is along a bus route and only a short walk to the King George Skytrain station. It is located by Green Timbers forest and the Surrey Nature Centre which provides excellent trails for walking, jogging, or biking. This role works a 37.5 hour week, Monday through Friday with some flexibility to work variable start times or completing their hours of work over 8 or 9 days instead of 10 in a two week period. This position is located in a law enforcement environment which includes regular contact with uniformed and armed police officers.

Intent of the process

The anticipated intent/result of this process is to indeterminately staff (on a full time basis) one position.

A qualified group of candidates may be identified and may be used to staff future permanent or temporary vacancies in similar or lower-level positions.

*Recent and **significant experience in using the Police Records Information Management Environment (PRIME) Records Management System (RMS).
Experience working in a policing environment.
*Recent experience in making recommendations related to information management systems based on analysis and interpretation of policy or legislation.
Experience in providing management with functional advice, guidance and recommendations.
*Recent and **significant experience in UCR (Uniform Crime Reporting).
*Recent and **significant experience in using word processing and spreadsheet software.

*Recent experience refers to the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with performance of the duties within approximately the last 5 years.

**Significant refers to the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of the duties on a continuous basis over a period of 2 years.

Interested persons must meet the essential qualifications to be appointed to the position, in a manner determined by the Selection Board. A person may be appointed to the position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements or organizational needs. However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.

Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for a period of 24 months and may be extended.

Please note that candidates (including persons employed in the Public Service) will not be considered to be in travel status or on government business and travel costs will not be reimbursed. Consequently, candidates will be responsible for travel costs.

Random selection may be used to identify which applicants will be assessed or appointed in this appointment process.
