Duties

The Accounting Policy Division (APD) delivers expert accounting, auditing and public disclosure advice to other divisions within OSFI and is active in contributing to the domestic and international accounting and assurance standard-setting processes on initiatives related to financial institutions.

The Director in APD will:
● contribute to OSFI’s management initiatives and priority projects,
● assess emerging trends in the deposit-taking or insurance industries and their impact to accounting policy and/or financial reporting,
● develop and coach Senior Accounting Advisors in APD,
● lead the team to being a thought leader for continuous improvement, and
● actively promote OSFI values.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
● A university degree OR an acceptable combination of education, experience and/or training.
● Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada designation.

Degree equivalency

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
● Recent and significant experience in the financial services industry*, in one or more of the following areas:
o Accounting policy,
o Financial reporting, and/or
o Internal audit of the financial reporting and accounting policy function.
● Experience in auditing with an external audit firm.
● Experience in leading/managing projects.
● Experience in coaching, leading/managing people, directly or indirectly.
● Experience in making presentations to senior management.

* Financial services industry includes experience working in a financial institution, including banks, insurance companies, pension funds, wealth management firms, and accounting firms (dealing with audits), as well as government departments that directly deal with the supervision and regulation of these institutions, or other relevant areas.
