Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff one indeterminate position in Regina, Saskatchewan.

Applicants should be aware, that a pool of qualified or partially assessed candidates may be established, and may be used to staff similar or identical positions of various tenures, various security level requirements and/or various linguistic requirements within ECCC.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering, geological engineering, naval architecture or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position such as water resources or environmental engineering.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
• Experience working on multidisciplinary water resource projects, committees, or groups.
• Experience in leading, participating, or directing engineering projects related to: hydrology or gathering and processing hydrometric data.

KNOWLEDGE:
• Knowledge of federal and provincial programs, agreements, and legislation related to water resources in the Prairie Provinces.
• Knowledge of the principles of hydrology and hydrogeology.
• Knowledge of water resources planning and management in the Prairie Provinces.
• Knowledge of the approaches used to determine apportioned streamflow in the Prairie Provinces.

ASSET EDUCATION:
• Graduation with an advanced degree (a master's or higher) from a recognized post-secondary institution in engineering with acceptable specialization in water resources or environmental engineering or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.

ASSET EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in leading, participating, and directing engineering projects related to: hydrogeology or gathering and processing hydro geologic data; or, river flow forecasting.
• Experience calibrating and using river basin hydrology or forecasting models.
• Experience in managing financial or human resources.

Operational Requirements:
• Ability and willingness for travel.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
