We are the "K" Division's Criminal Operations Strategic Management Services Team, that provides secretariat services to the Criminal Operations Officers, Federal Policing and Core Senior Management Teams. We manage and coordinate new and ongoing strategies and program activities, including synchronizing and integration of briefing products and executive correspondence.

We are the "K" Division's Administration and Personnel Branch that oversees four large portfolios that deliver high quality support services to divisional operations in the areas of: human resources, health management, training and performance, conduct/internal services, information technology, claims and litigation management, corporate planning and contracting services.

We are the "K" Division's Operations Strategy Branch, providing support to operations by ensuring that the Division is a strategically focused, aligned and intelligence-led organization of excellence.

By joining one of our three teams, you will:
- Lead a variety of assigned projects, initiatives and reviews to formulate recommendations for decisions in a results-focused environment.
- Prepare comprehensive reports, business cases, business plans and briefing notes.
- Research and identify creative and innovative solutions to challenges and opportunities.
- Optimize the effectiveness of processes and resources in delivering services.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external clients/partners.

Intent of the process

There are currently three indeterminate vacancies to be staffed: one in the Administration and Personnel Office, one on the Criminal Operations Strategic Management Services Team, and one in the Operations Strategy Branch. This pool of qualified candidates will also be established to staff other AS-05 positions within the RCMP in Edmonton on an indeterminate, term, acting, assignment, secondment or deployment basis.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience*

(*An acceptable combination is defined as successful completion of secondary school with a minimum of two years of related experience AND a diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution.)

Degree equivalency

Recent** experience leading the development and/or management of projects and/or initiatives
Experience preparing comprehensive reports, business cases, business plans and/or briefing notes for senior management***
Experience in researching complex**** issues and identifying to Senior Management*** creative and innovative solutions to presented challenges
Experience working and consulting with external and/or internal clients, partners, and/or stakeholders

Ability to communicate effectively in writing

STREAM 1 (OSB):

Experience in collecting, compiling and analyzing financial information and in preparing analytical reports
Experience in providing support, advice and recommendations to Senior Management*** on various financial data and trends

(** Recent is defined as experienced acquired within the last two (2) years).
(***Senior management is defined as executive level).
(****Complex issues is defined as those involving multiple stakeholders, financial implications, policy impacts, and/or time constraints).

ALL STREAMS:

Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in a field related to the position, for example specializations in law related studies, business studies, public administration, human resources management, operations management, or strategic management and organization
Additional certification in fields related to the position, for example change management or project management

Degree equivalency

Experience contributing to and/or developing corporate strategic planning documents
Experience working in policing or similar work environment
Experience preparing financial reports and analyzing budgets

STREAM 1 (OSB):

Experience with the use, manipulation and creation of reports using Microsoft Excel software.
