Duties

This position entails representing, promoting and delivering Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) / FedNor programs, products, services and initiatives to Northern Ontario stakeholders, including communities, indigenous communities, not-for-profit organizations and small and medium sized businesses.

Key activities include:
-Provide advice and guidance to stakeholders in the development of project proposals consistent with ISED/FedNor priorities;
-Broker and negotiate partnerships and support for community economic development initiatives;
-Provide advice and input into ISED/FedNor’s programs, policies and systems related to economic development;
-Ensure commitments made with stakeholders are fulfilled in accordance with terms and conditions of agreements, program policy and procedures and legislative requirements;
-Write briefing notes and memoranda for senior management; and,
-Support the Manager, Program Delivery, in the administration of geographic, community, or sector/industry specific initiatives.

Intent of the process

The intent of this selection process is to staff two positions on an indeterminate basis: one with a linguistic requirement of Bilingual imperative - BBB/BBB in Timmins or Sault Ste. Marie and one English essential position in Sudbury, both with Reliability Security Clearance.A pool of partially qualified candidates will be created to staff similar positions within Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada with various language requirements and various tenures (indeterminate, deployment, acting, specified period, assignment, secondment).

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education (essential):
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or an acceptable combination of education
and significant relevant* experience.
* Relevant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of work demonstrated normally acquired by performing
duties for a period of approximately five (5) years.

Experience (essential):
- Experience leading economic development projects and/or programs.
- Experience developing and providing advice on complex matters.
- Experience implementing regional economic development.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Assets (nice to have but not essential):
- Experience in making presentations to groups of business or community leaders.
- Experience in developing reports for management

Operational requirements:
- Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as required.
- Willingness to travel.
