Work environment

Indian Oil and Gas Canada (IOGC) is located away from Calgary's downtown core at the west end of Anderson Road on Tsuut'ina First Nation lands.

IOGC is a special operating agency within Indigenous Services Canada. The organization is responsible for the administration of oil and gas resources on First Nation reserve lands across Canada, primarily south of the 60th parallel.

Intent of the process

This process will initially be used to staff one (1) position on an indeterminate basis. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and used to staff similar positions with various tenures.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation with a certificate or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization relevant to the work to be performed (for example, in land management, land administration, or in oil and gas)

An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience comparable to a certificate or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization relevant to the work to be performed may serve as an alternative to meet the education requirement

Degree equivalency

Extensive* experience administering the acquisition and/or disposition of land interests, specifically as they relate to land resource development

*Extensive is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally acquired over a period of nine (9) to ten (10) years

Experience providing input into the development of, and implementing land policies and procedures

Experience providing advice concerning land management

Experience managing human and financial resources

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization relevant to the work to be performed (for example, in land management, land administration, or in oil and gas)

Degree equivalency

Membership in a professional land association (for example, Canadian Association of Professional Landmen, Canadian Association of Petroleum Land Administration, or National Aboriginal Lands Managers Association)

Experience working with industry and First Nations in an oil and gas role

Experience providing input into the development of, and implementing land policies and procedures, specifically those supporting oil and gas exploration and development

Indian Oil and Gas Canada employs a classification system that differs from that utilized in the core public administration. An AB10 position is comparable to a position classified at the AS08 group and level, as it relates to the annual rates of pay only. This advertised position is subject to the Indian Oil and Gas Canada Directive on Terms and Conditions of Employment for AB09 to AB14.
