Pilimmaksaivik is looking for a new Director to lead the Government of Canada’s Centre of Excellence for Inuit Employment (located within CanNor) in Nunavut. In this role, the Director will work with federal government departments to help them to use Inuit learning and culture to enhance Inuit employment programs and practices. Building on this knowledge, the Director will also lead a team to develop and implement new training programs and policies to support employment services and opportunities for Nunavut Inuit.
Salary and Benefits
The salary range is between $112,300 and $132,100 plus northern allowance funding of between $18,000-$32,000 per year and vacation travel assistance of about $5,000 per person in your household (some conditions apply) per year. Federal housing is available for this position. As a federal government employee, you will also receive a comprehensive benefit package including an employee pension plan and health, dental and group insurance. The successful candidate may also be able to receive funding to help them move to Iqaluit, if they are applying from outside of Iqaluit.
As the Director of Pilimmaksaivik, you would play a key role in influencing change in a large network. This work would allow you to:
• Build and support strong relationships with the Government of Nunavut, Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. (NTI), and federal departments and agencies. You would help them find common ground in the employment priorities and plans for Nunavut to meet land claim obligations.
• Oversee work to put in place the Government of Canada’s Inuit Employment Plan. Manage your Pilimmaksaivik team to deliver the Plan’s projects and policies.
• Put in place the first Pre-Employment Training Plan for Inuit who want to work for the Government of Canada.
• Lead your team and develop a plan for the next phase of Pilimmaksaivik’s work to boost Inuit Employment.
• Manage of team of 12 people.

Pilimmaksaivik is the Federal Centre of Excellence for Inuit Employment in Nunavut. It is located within CanNor. As the Director of Pilimmaksaivik, you would work with a great team and motivated partners on interesting programs and policies for Nunavut Inuit.
The intent of this process is to fill one (1) full-time position in Iqaluit. This is a position in Nunavut to support Inuit so we are hoping to hire an Inuk enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement (also known as a Beneficiary of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement). Nunavut Inuit who are found qualified in this staffing process will be appointed ahead of other qualified applicants.
