As members of the SMSB leadership team, each Managing Director will be assigned one of the three group-wide functional responsibilities - oversight of the mid-tier institutions portfolio, of the small and medium size banks portfolio and group portfolio risk management.
The Managing Director, Deposit Taking Supervision Sector, will also be responsible for the Small and Medium Sized Banking (SMSB) group in either Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver. Responsibilities will include planning, directing and overseeing supervisory activities while ensuring that work is risk focused and consistent with regulatory and supervisory standards, as well as with resource requirements and availability. Leading, developing, and coaching staff are key responsibilities of the position.

The Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) is an independent agency of the Government of Canada, established in 1987 to contribute to the safety and soundness of the Canadian financial system. OSFI supervises and regulates federally registered banks and insurers, trust and loan companies, as well as private pension plans subject to federal oversight.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
● A university degree with specialization in commerce, accounting, business, finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field OR an acceptable combination of education, experience, and/or training.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
● Recent and significant experience at the management level in the financial services industry*.
● Recent and significant experience critiquing risk management practices and identifying key risk areas in institutions.
● Recent and significant experience in presenting to executive-level management and/or the Board.
● Experience in leading, developing and coaching staff.
*Financial services industry includes experience working in a financial institution, including banks, insurance companies, pension funds, wealth management firms, and accounting firms (dealing with audits), as well as government departments that directly deal with the supervision and regulation of these institutions, or other relevant areas.
