Health Canada's Specialized Health Services Directorate within Corporate Services Branch delivers programs and services to support the health and well-being of federal public servants. As the principal occupational health and safety advisor to the Treasury Board Secretariat, the Specialized Health Services Directorate provides a wide range of occupational health and communicable disease services through the Public Service Occupational Health Program (PSOHP), and also offers confidential employee counselling and specialized organizational services through Employee Assistance Services (EAS).

Intent of the process

This process will be used to fill three current vacancies in Victoria (1) and Toronto (2); and future vacancies in Vancouver (1) and Kingston (1). A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be created and may be used to staff similar positions at an identical or equivalent group and level with various languages proficiencies (English Essential, Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB,), various security profiles and various tenures using various staffing activities for positions within Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION
Master’s Degree in Nursing from a recognized university with acceptable specialization as a Nurse Practitioner.

Degree equivalency

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
Current registration as a Registered Nurse (Nurse Practitioner) in a province or territory of Canada and a member in good standing in that province.

EXPERIENCE
Significant* and recent* experience in the direct provision of health services as a Nurse Practitioner including health assessments and immunizations.

*Significant will be evaluated in terms of the amount, complexity and diversity of work performed, and level of direct responsibility which was acquired over a period of at least five (5) years. Recent refers to experience normally acquired within the last three (3) years.

EDUCATION
Certification in Occupational Health Nursing from the Canadian Nurses’ Association (CNA).
Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health Nursing.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
Experience in conducting occupational health assessments or occupational screening tests (e.g., audiograms, visions tests, spirometry).
Experience in conducting immunizations or tuberculin skin tests.

Willingness and ability to work overtime and/or modify work hours based on operational requirements.
Possession of a valid driver’s license or personal mobility to the degree associated with possession of a valid driver’s license (such as public transportation).
Willingness and ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Ability to manually lift and carry equipment safely to a maximum of 20 kg when travelling from the office location to deliver services.
Due to operational requirements, teleworking arrangements are not permitted.

11.Candidates must meet the essential qualifications to be appointed to a position.
