In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
A degree from a recognized university with a specialization in natural resource management, environmental studies, biology, commerce, economics, political science, or other specialization relevant to the position or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience related to the duties of the position.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
• Experience collaborating, consulting OR negotiating directly with Indigenous groups, external stakeholders or clients (such as non-governmental organizations, fish harvesters, aquaculturists, or the public).
• Experience working in cross functional teams***.
• Experience analyzing and synthesizing information to formulate and write reports, correspondence OR communications materials (such as briefing notes, memorandums, technical reports, letters).

*** “Cross functional teams” is defined as a team of people with different areas of expertise. (For example...science, program management, policy).

Asset Qualifications (may be needed for the job)

Experience:
• Experience in fisheries or aquaculture management (such as planning, implementing, reporting or evaluating activities)
• Experience in natural resources management activities
• Experience in the provision of government services to external clients
• Experience interpreting and applying science advice
• Experience conducting scientific work in one of the following areas of aquatic biology: fish population science, fish stock assessment, fish habitat science, fisheries productivity science, ecosystem science, biodiversity science, aquatic invasive species, species at risk.
• Experience in the conservation, recovery or listing process for species at risk.
• Experience working with Fisheries Management databases

Knowledge:
• Knowledge of aquatic species and ecosystems

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

• Valid Driver's Licence (for the purposes of driving a departmental vehicle or a rental car)
• Willingness to travel
• Willingness to work overtime on occasion
