Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to create a pool of qualified candidates to staff the following positions, or similar positions, on a permanent or temporary basis at Crown Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada in Whitehorse, Yukon:
- Project Engineer – Immediate, permanent need

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in environmental engineering, civil engineering, geological engineering, or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in reviewing engineering and/or construction documents, such as engineering drawings, technical specifications, project work plans, environmental reports, construction reports and/or construction practices.
• Experience providing advice to management on engineering related technical issues.
• Experience in project and/or program management.
• Experience in the management and preparation of consultant and construction contracts.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS (Not essential, but preference may be given to candidates who possess asset qualifications).
• Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer or engineer-in-training in Canada.
• Registered as a professional engineer in Canada.
• Project Management Institute Certification.
• Knowledge of the implications of the unique northern environment on operational, technical and engineering solutions to contaminated site remediation and civil works.
• Knowledge of environmental legislation.
• Experience in assessing and remediating contaminated sites.
• Experience with northern engineering design principles and constraints.
• Experience in mining projects and/or mine closure/reclamation projects.
• Experience with large scale construction projects.
• Experience in environmental assessment, permitting and regulatory processes.
• Experience working with First Nations communities.
• Experience in planning, design, implementation and/or management of various infrastructure activities such as earthworks/embankments, retention structures, water diversions, or covers.
• Significant experience in project management (more than 5 years).
