HOW TO APPLY:

You will be required to demonstrate how you meet the education and each of the experience criteria listed in the essential qualifications and any of the applicable asset qualifications on the Statement of Merit Criteria for the initial screening by answering the online screening questions. Please be sure to include substantiating details that clearly outline the breadth of experience as well as relevant timelines.

Failure to clearly demonstrate how you meet the screening criteria (Education, Experience, Essential and Asset (if applicable) may result in the rejection of your application. Candidates will not be solicited for incomplete or missing information.

Intent of the process

The results of this inventory will initially be used to staff one (1) English essential position indeterminately.

A pool of candidates will be established to staff similar positions or identical positions with various linguistic profiles and/or requirements (English or Bilingual Imperative BBB), with various tenures (term, indeterminate) and/or the security clearance (reliability or secret), which may vary according to the position being staffed at Transport Canada. Consequently, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible. As positions become available, applicants who meet the qualifications may be contacted for further assessment.

EDUCATION
ED: Graduation with a bachelor degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in an engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.

OR

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
OC: Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
EX1: Significant* experience in the design, development, testing, or certification of components or systems related to occupant safety or environmental systems for use in aircraft.

*Significant is defined as having 7 or more years of engineering experience whilst progressively acquiring increased responsibilities (in either one or both of the disciplines mentioned above) related to engineering in the aerospace industry.

EXPERIENCE
AEX1: Experience as a design approval delegate carrying out aircraft certification activities.

AEX2: Experience in the ground, rig, and flight testing of occupant safety or environmental systems related components and systems.

• aircraft interiors
• seating
• or flammability.

AK2: Knowledge of Environmental System design, testing, and installation such as:
• air systems

• ice protection
• or oxygen systems.

AK3: Knowledge of Transport Canada Civil Aviation regulatory framework and type certification procedures related to the approval of Canadian manufactured aircraft and type design validation of foreign manufactured aircraft.

AK4: Knowledge of System Safety Assessment tools such as Failure Hazard Analysis, System Safety Assessment, and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be willing and able to travel nationally and internationally as required.
- Must be willing and able to work overtime and weekends as required.
