Intent of the process

A pool of qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar EG-04 positions at Natural Resources Canada with various tenures, various language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential, or Bilingual), linguistic requirements (imperative and/or non-imperative) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements (Reliability status or Secret clearance), various conditions of employment and for various locations

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
Completion of post-secondary education with a specialization related to mineral processing or relevant technical science; or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
- Recent* experience in operating complex analytical instrumentation (e.g., ICP-AES, ICP-MS or IC) for analyzing mining and environmental samples.
- Recent experience in open and closed vessel solid sample digestion procedures.
- Recent experience in handling concentrated acids such as hydrofluoric acid.
- Recent experience in preparing analytical data reports.
- Recent experience in incorporating health and safety procedures in work processes.
- Recent experience in preparing or modifying standard operating procedures (SOP) for sample analysis.

Knowledge:
- Knowledge of digestion methods for processing solid mineralogical samples.
- Knowledge of analytical instrumentation for anions, carbon and sulfur.
- Knowledge of operation and interferences of different ICP instrumentation.
- Knowledge of laboratory health and safety practices.
- Knowledge of quality control procedures and techniques used in a laboratory.

Abilities:
- Ability to calibrate and operate laboratory instrumentation to ensure that exact and precise data is collected.
- Ability to record and organize analytical data.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

Experience in operating WD-XRF systems for solid sample analysis.
Knowledge of fusion procedures for the preparation of samples for WD-XRF analysis.
Experience in operating ICP-AES systems sample analysis.
