As Procurement Officer in the RCMP's Procurement and Contracting Unit you will be responsible for tasks such as researching and interpreting policies and regulations, drafting government contracts, and providing guidance to clients across the North West Region. You will make and see a real impact on daily police operations as you create contracts for goods, services and construction projects in routine, urgent and even emergency situations.
The intent of this process is to staff one (1) permanent position in Edmonton, AB. Candidates who are found qualified will have their applications retained for future PG-02 positions in Edmonton, AB and Regina, SK.

Your résumé.
A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Recent and significant* experience in providing procurement and/or contracting services.
Recent and significant** experience in using word processing and spreadsheet software such as MS Word and Excel.
Recent and significant** experience providing services to clients in a fast-paced, high-volume or multi-tasking environment.
Experience interpreting and providing guidance on procedures, policies and/or legislation related to the procurement for goods and/or services.
*Recent and significant is defined as at least 12 months of experience within the past 5 years.
** Recent and significant is defined as at least 2 years of experience within the last 5 years.
Ability to communicate in writing and transmit information effectively.

Graduation with a diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field relevant to the position
Accreditation in Procurement
Recent and significant* experience acquiring goods and/or services using various procurement methodologies such as Standing Offers and Supply Arrangements within (or to) the federal government in a Procurement and Contracting environment.
Recent and significant* experience creating solicitation documents from templates and determining the appropriate clauses to be utilized in solicitations and contract documents.
Experience providing Procurement and/or Contracting with Comprehensive Land Claims Agreement (CLCA) and Procurement Strategy for Aboriginal Business (PSAB) considerations
Experience using an Integrated Procurement-Financial Management System (such as SAP, Oracle)
*Recent and significant is defined as at least 12 months of experience within the past 5 years.
Operational requirements
Willingness and ability to work occasional overtime.
Willingness and ability to travel for work and/or training purposes using various modes of transportation (including owned or leased government transport, commercial and light aircraft and up to and including remote locations).
Willingness and ability to maintain a valid driver's license.
Reliability Status security clearance - NOTE: Successful candidates will require a valid RCMP security clearance prior to appointment and throughout the tenure of their employment. The process to obtain RCMP security clearance involves a security/reliability interview and a field investigation regarding matters of criminal activity which includes reference checks, verification of credit/financial status, education, employment, etc. As such, the process may take several weeks or months to complete.
