Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, the Refrigeration/HVAC Technician is responsible for the daily operations of the Refrigeration and HVAC systems at the RCMP Training Academy. Duties include; operating, repairing, and maintaining Refrigeration and HVAC equipment, overseeing the completion of work orders, ensuring compliance with all regulatory codes, acts, and regulations, sourcing information from manufacturers, suppliers, and technical manuals for the repair and operation of specific equipment. The Refrigeration/HVAC Technician may also maintain and repair computerized firearms ranges, food services equipment, swimming pool equipment, steam plant equipment, and building controls. The Refrigeration/HVAC Technician will work with Contractors and RCMP employees in the other trade shops within the Works Unit.
Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.

Possession of a valid Interprovincial Red Seal Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Journeyperson Certificate
Recent* and significant**experience working as a refrigeration technician in a residential setting and in a commercial or industrial setting
Experience in the inspection of various building HVAC equipment
Experience in the maintenance and operation of HVAC equipment and systems
Experience working in a multi-unit institutional setting such as a dorm facility, hospital, jail, etc
*Recent is defined as the experience attained within the last (2) two years. **Significant is defined as the experience typically obtained over at least (5) years
Domestic Gasfitter Licence
Experience using a computerized preventive maintenance system on a regular basis such as entering maintenance action requests, correcting errors, printing reports, etc
Experience using a direct digital control system (DDC)
Experience in making recommendations with respect to cost estimates, decisions concerning component replacement and repair, as well as acceptance of the work completed
Experience working on Evapco Cooling Towers, Daiken Chillers, Hoshizaki Ice Machines, Engineered Air HVAC systems or various brands of high efficient furnaces
Willing and able to be available to be on standby, to work shift work and to work overtime on short notice

Testing/interviews will be conducted at the location of the employer's choice.
The successful applicant will have to obtain an RCMP security clearance. The process also requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of credit/finances, education, employment, references, etc.
Must be willing and able to relocate and/or work in Regina Saskatchewan.
Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
