Intent of the process

Indigenous Services Canada / Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada are committed to having a skilled and diversified workforce representative of the population they serve. First consideration may be given to candidates self-identifying as an Indigenous person.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION

► Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

► Experience in working with Indigenous partners and/or communities to advance Indigenous priorities in a self-determination approach.

► Experience in developing or implementing Indigenous informed population health or social determinants of health initiative – aimed at tackling socio-economic disparities that are the result of intergenerational impacts of colonization.

► Experience in briefing management or leadership positions to focus on what is of importance and what are the impacts of making various decisions with an understanding of the Indigenous perspective

► Experience in managing human* and financial** resources.

*Human Resources : Applicants must clearly demonstrate that they have supervised staff, assigned work and developed staffing plans. Applicants must indicate the number of staff they supervised in each position.

**Financial Resources: Applicants must show evidence of managing and being accountable for a budget. This experience is defined as being responsible for financial planning, forecasting and reporting. Applicants must also indicate the size on the budget they managed directly.

► Knowledge of key factors of the Government of Canada’s Reconciliation agenda, with particular focus on specific health-related and population health or social determinants of health initiatives and tracking of health and social outcomes

► Knowledge of the impacts of intergenerational trauma and positive strategies put forward by Indigenous leaders and representatives of Indigenous communities to address challenges.
