We are located at 160 Elgin Street, Ottawa, Ontario (walking distance to the Rideau Canal). The recently renovated building is located in downtown Ottawa, near various restaurants and easily accessible public transit, all within walking distance. There are exercise classes in the building, as well as some great walking and biking trails nearby.
The result of this process will initially be used to staff one indeterminate position.
A pool of partially qualified candidates may be created to staff similar positions at the IS-03 group and level with a linguistic profile of various language requirements, various tenures, and various security profiles at the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency.

EDUCATION:
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution
OR
an acceptable combination* of education, training and/or experience.
Notes:
1.Based on their education, training and/or experience, indeterminate incumbents of positions in the IS classification are deemed to meet the minimum education standard whenever a bachelor's degree without specialization is called for in a position classified as IS.
2.At the manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, may serve as an alternative to the minimum education standard.
EXPERIENCE:
Significant* experience copyediting materials in English
Significant* experience in adapting and summarizing complex documents for general audiences using Plain English
Experience in writing documents in Plain English such as web content, communications products, reports, abstracts, analytical articles and/or technical documents.
Experience in providing advice on Plain English and language quality matters.
Experience in proofreading.
*Significant experience refers to an acceptable combination of breadth, depth, complexity of tasks that can normally be acquired in 2 years of work in the field.

LEAVE OR ABSENCES DURING THE SELECTION PROCESS:
It is the responsibility of the candidate to notify the Human Resources Advisor of any pre-approved leave throughout the duration of the selection process in order to facilitate scheduling of evaluations. Also, only one alternate date will be offered to the candidate if requested for the following exceptional reasons: 1) Medical reasons with doctor's certificate; 2) Death in your immediate family; 3) Confirmation of pre-approved travel plans or training plans (made before the advertisement posting date); 4) Religious reasons.
