The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) is a federal department responsible to ensure the integrity and marketability of grain for the domestic and international grain trade, from producer to global customer.
The CGC is a significant part of Canada’s dynamic and diverse agricultural sector. We regulate grain handling in Canada, set grain standards and conduct research on grain. This process will be used to staff:
Stream 1 (Writer-Editor): 1 full-time term position
Stream 2 (Community Relations Officer): 1 full-time indeterminate position
A pool may be created to staff similar positions with various linguistic profiles and tenures (indeterminate, specified term, acting, deployment, secondment).

Education
STREAM 1 & 2:
- Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience
STREAM 1 & 2:
- Experience in the coordination of communications projects, including working with a multidisciplinary team and subject matter experts to deliver projects on time and on budget.
- Experience in providing analysis, advice and recommendations to clients, stakeholders and/or senior management on the performance of communications activities.
STREAM 1:
- Experience in writing and editing a variety of communications products such as (but not limited to) speaking notes, speeches, briefing documents, backgrounders, fact sheets, questions and answers, news releases, brochures, presentations, website content and social media content.
STREAM 2:
- Experience in planning, managing, delivering and assessing communication activities or projects such as (but not limited to) exhibits, tours, presentations, promotion and advertising.
Education
STREAM 1 & 2:
- A degree, diploma or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution in technical writing, literature, journalism, communications, web or new media management, linguistics or other field of study relevant to the position.
Experience
STREAM 1:
- Experience in curating and tailoring dynamic social media content to a variety of platforms.
- Experience in editing or writing documents of a technical or scientific nature.
STREAM 2:
- Experience in initiating and managing professional and service delivery contracts to develop specific communications/marketing products.
