Position 1:
The key duties of the incumbent will be:
• Assess the compliance by performing quality control reviews of documents prepared by external consultants for broader scope and complexity projects.
• Investigate, review, evaluate and inspect real property and fire protection systems to meet program and client requirements and ensure quality control throughout all stages of service delivery
• Provide advice and assistance to clients on straightforward fire protection situations ;
• Provide fire protection assessments of existing buildings to be renovated or leased.
• Develop solutions, assessments, concepts, cost estimates for fire protection and fire safety.
• Identify changes to fire safety regulations and maintain this regulation current.
• Evaluate technical documentation and determine the applicability of new technologies and procédures.
Position 2:
Under the control and supervision of the discipline manager, the main duties of the incumbent are:
• Provide mechanical engineering specialist advisory services to ensure that projects are completed in accordance with the legislative and theoretical framework;
• Design and verify building services plans and specifications (plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, controls and fire protection);
• Supervise construction work and contribute to preparing field reports;
• Perform quality control reviews of projects done by external consultants;
• Solve equipment and mechanical system design problems;
• Keep his/her knowledge and documentation on building mechanical practices and technology up to date.
• Participate in various studies related to the field of building mechanics.

EDUCATION
Position 1)
Graduation with a baccalaureate from a recognized university with a specialization in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or in some other field of engineering related to the duties of the position.
Position 2)
Graduation with a baccalaureate from a recognized university with a specialization in mechanical engineering.
PROFESSIONAL ACCREDITATION
Canadian certification as an engineer.
EXPERIENCE
Position 1)
Significant** experience* in the field of fire protection, fire alarm and the application of national building codes and standards for construction and renovation.
Position 2)
EXP-1: Significant** experience* in the field of design and in supervision of building mechanical construction work of varying complexity and scope in building mechanical engineering.
EXP-2: Significant** experience* in the field of managing mandates (managing, coordinating and evaluating the work of other professionals) for professional and technical services of varying complexity and scope in building mechanical engineering.

(*) Experience is defined as work-related experience acquired in the identified field following graduation from an undergraduate engineering program in an engineering speciality relevant to the position.
(**) Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience that would be usually acquired in approximately three (3) years and obtained in the last five (5) years.

Higher education from a recognized university leading to a higher degree in fire safety and/or a certificate of specialized fire safety training from a recognized fire protection organization (NFPA, CFAA, etc.)

Position 1
A1 Significant* experience in submitting alternatives solutions to the National Building Code to a municipal, provincial or federal authority.
A2 Design experience in fire protection or fire alarm systems.
A3 Experience in testing and commissioning fire safety systems and equipment.
A4 Experience in conducting fire safety inspections.

REQUIRED CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

• Have a driver’s license valid in Quebec.
• Be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec
