Assessment accommodation

Intent of the process

The intent of this selection process is to staff one position indeterminately as well as another position on an anticipatory basis. A pool of qualified candidates may be established to staff similar positions with various language requirements and various tenures (indeterminate, term, deployment, acting, secondment or assignment) within Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada.

Education:
- Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in accounting, finance, business or public administration, economics, commerce or some other specialty relevant to the position or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
- Recent* and significant** experience in performing research, preparing and analyzing the results
- Recent* and significant** experience presenting work results to management (i.e. manager level and above);
- Recent* and significant** experience in developing, documenting, or assessing operational processes;
- Experience in overseeing the work of junior team members.

*“Recent experience” is defined as within the last 5 years.
** “Significant experience” is defined as depth and breadth of experience normally acquired over a period of 2 or more consecutive years.

Knowledge:

Asset - Education:
- Master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in accounting, finance, business or public administration, economics, commerce or some other specialty relevant to the duties of the position.

Degree equivalency

Asset - Occupational Certification:
- An internal audit designation, such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP), or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE); or a recognized professional accounting designation (i.e., CPA-CA, CPA-CMA, CGAP, CISA or CPA-CGA).

Asset - Experience:
- Experience in the participation in at least two phases of internal audit engagements (planning, conduct or reporting).
- Experience in contributing to the writing of internal audit documents in at least three (3) of the following: terms of reference, audit engagement plan, audit program, risk assessment, audit findings sheet or audit report.
- Experience in using audit working paper software such as TeamMate.
- Experience in developing or contributing to the development of a Risk-Based Audit Plan.
- Experience performing data analytics and/or continuous auditing.
- Experience using ACL or Idea software applications.
- Experience in developing tools, techniques, and processes used to support an internal audit function.

Operational Requirements:
- Willingness and ability to work overtime on short notice.
- Willingness and ability to travel on occasion.
