Work environment

The IM/IT division provides the Department of Finance with modern, mobile and collaborative tools and services to allow the Department to focus its strategies on developing policies and providing advice to the Government with the goal of creating a healthy economy for Canadians. The IM/IT division supports and operates an effective IT environment, constantly improving and evolving tools and solutions to support business functions. The department also works in close collaboration with Shared Services Canada to realize its IT functions.

We are always looking for talented individuals to staff the following five (5) types of positions:

1. Support Technician in Service Desk (CS-01)
2. Support Analyst in Service Desk, Distributed computing or Business applications (CS-02)
3. Team leader in Service Desk (CS-03)
4. Technical Advisor in Distributed Computing or Business Applications (CS-03)
5. IT Manager in Service Desk, Distributed Computing or Business Applications (CS-04)

EDUCATION:

Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

1. Experience proving technical support on Microsoft windows desktops, network applications and infrastructure services

AND one or more of the following experience:

2. Experience providing technical support to a minimum of 500 end-users in an IT Service Desk environment
OR
3. Developing, testing and implementing windows desktop configuration items in a production environment
OR
4. Experience developing, testing and implementing applications features (desktop applications, client/server applications or Web-based applications) in a production environment.

NOTE:
Candidates applying at the CS-03 and CS-04 level MUST meet a minimum of 5 years (CS-03) and 7 years (CS-04) of experience to be considered.

1. Successful completion of two (2) years of a post-secondary educational program in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or information technology.
2. Bachelor degree (or above) in Computer Science, Engineering or Science.
3. Bachelor degree (or above).
4. Experience managing user accounts and network access using Microsoft Active directory.
5. Experience providing technical support on government of Canada managed services: ETI/YES (Email Transformation Initiative / Your Email Service, your ), EMDM (Enterprise Mobile Device Management), myKEY, GCSRA (GC Secure Remote Access), Connected Wi-Fi, Videoconferencing and Web conferencing.
6. Experience providing technical support on all of the following:
(i) Windows desktops and desktop applications in a Corporate environment
(ii) Web-based applications, including Internal and External Web applications
(iii) Client/Server applications (COTS or custom)
7. Experience providing technical support on the Government of Canada Secret Infrastructure.
8. Experience implementing/deploying and supporting new IT Systems in a production environment of at least 500 end-users.
9. Experience developing operational reports using Microsoft Excel, ITSM tools, database queries and scripting.
10. Experience developing administrative script using Microsoft PowerShell.
11. Experience packaging and distributing applications in a Microsoft environment using System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Microsoft App-V.
12. Experience configuring and supporting Microsoft SharePoint.
13. Experience in configuring and administrating Microsoft SQL.
14. Experience in developing applications with Microsoft .NET.
15. Experience implementing and supporting cloud based infrastructure initiatives hosted in Microsoft Azure.
16. Experience building core operating system images for Microsoft Windows 10 using task sequences in System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM).
17. Experience researching, analyzing, configuring, testing and administrating Microsoft Group Policy objects to manage Windows 10 Corporate desktops.
18. Experience administering a System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM) environment including updating and installing SCCM Server components.
19. Experience in supporting VPN and Citrix Remote Access solutions.
20. Experience configuration, managing and supporting Macintosh devices using a Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution.
21. Experience in Microsoft Office 365 identity management and resolving technical issues related to Office 365 products.
22. Experience writing standard operational procedures covering IT service end-to-end, configuration and/or administration guides of IT systems.
23. Experience leading the technical design and implementation of new IT systems having multiple dependencies with network, server and desktop components in a matrix environment.
24. Experience supervising or managing government employees and contractors.

Operational Requirements:
1. Be willing and able to work flexible hours.
2. Be willing and able to work overtime as needed, sometimes without notice.
3. Be willing and able to make short trips within Canada.
