• Installation and removal of police emergency equipment including telecommunication equipment, video cameras, radar, emergency lighting, prisoner shields, gun racks and other related equipment.
• Use of specialized mechanical and electronic test equipment
• Diagnose, service and repair a diverse range of emergency equipment, including lighting and other specialty equipment, smart link (electronic siren) systems and police communication equipment
• Provide fly-in service to remote locations to service and repair a wide variety of on-road and off-road vehicles
Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.
The intent of this process is to staff Motor Vehicle Senior Technician vacancy in Regina (SK).
The staffing requirements in Edmonton (AB) and Winnipeg (MB) are anticipatory only. Currently there are no vacancies.

Possession of a valid Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyperson Certificate as an Automotive Service Technician
Recent (within the last two years) hands-on experience in repairing automobiles and/or light trucks in an automotive repair shop
Recent (within the last two years) experience installing automotive electronic accessories
Experience installing mobile communication equipment
Experience in welding and metal fabricating techniques
Experience using a computer for garage management programs and vehicle repair manuals
Willing and able to travel by various modes of transportation (including commercial and light aircraft) up to and including remote locations
Willing and able to work overtime

Possession of a valid Canadian Driver’s licence equivalent to a Class 5
A driver’s abstract with no more than 2 minor violations in the last 12 months*
*A copy of the driver’s abstract will be requested during the assessment phase and may be requested again upon successful completion of the security clearance process for the successful candidate.

The successful candidate will be required to provide original documentation of proof of Canadian Citizenship prior to appointment. Other candidates may also be asked to provide this documentation at various stages in the selection process. The following documents will be accepted as proof: Provincial or territorial birth certificate; Naturalization certificates (issued prior to Jan. 1, 1947); Registration of Birth Abroad certificates (issued between Jan. 1, 1947 and Feb. 14, 1977); Certificates of Retention; Citizenship certificates.

Testing/interviews will be conducted at the location of the employer's choice.
The successful applicant will have to obtain an RCMP security clearance. The process also requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of credit/finances, education, employment, references, etc.
Must be willing and able to relocate and/or work in Edmonton Alberta, Regina Saskatchewan, or Winnipeg Manitoba
Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
