This process will be used to staff one temporary position. A pool of qualified candidates will be created following this process, and will be used to staff similar equivalent or lower level positions for indeterminate appointments, term appointments, acting appointments, casual, deployments, assignments and secondments.

EDUCATION
A secondary school diploma or a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
Possession of a valid Provincial Automotive Service Technician or Heavy Equipment Service Technician certification.
EXPERIENCE
Significant* experience as an automotive or heavy equipment mechanic or technician.
Experience interpreting and applying automotive or heavy equipment precautions and practices associated with mechanical work.
*Significant experience is defined as two years experience in the last five years.
EDUCATION
Successful completion of any work related continuing education courses related to mechanical or other automotive/heavy-equipment maintenance.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
Heavy vehicles formation.
EXPERIENCE
Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System for vehicle fleet maintenance.
Experience maintaining Fleet Vehicle Records.
Experience in welding or metal fabrication.
Experience maintaining diesel engines.
Experience working in a correctional facility.
English essential
Information on language requirements
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of codes and regulations relevant to mechanical/heavy equipment maintenance.
Knowledge of workplace health and safety.
Knowledge of motor vehicle maintenance and related systems.
ABILITIES
Ability to maintain an inventory of tools and replacement parts.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
Ability to communicate effectively orally.
