Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one (1) indeterminate position with a bilingual imperative CBC/CBC linguistic profile.

This process will also be used to establish a partially assessed pool of candidates that may be used to staff similar positions at an identical or equivalent group and level and with various official language proficiencies such as : (Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB, Bilingual Imperative CBC/CBC, Bilingual Imperative CCC/CCC), and various tenures using various staffing mechanisms such as: (Indeterminate appointment, Term appointment, Acting appointment, Deployment, Assignment or Secondment

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in education, applied linguistics, social sciences, international relations, intercultural studies, psychology, adult education, literature, international development or a related discipline.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCES:

EX1 - Learner counseling experience in a professional learning environment.
EX2 - Experience using current technologies for the design and implementation of language training (including distance training).
EX3 - Experience in management of language learning projects. This includes the definition of scope, objectives and statement of work and the development of the project.
EX4 - Significant(1) experience in teaching a language to adults in a professional setting or at university level at all proficiency(2) levels.

Note 1: Significant is defined as having taught for at least 500 hours.
Note 2: Proficiency is defined as the ability of an individual to speak or perform in a language.

KNOWLEDGE:

K1 - Knowledge of adult learning: theories, principles and practices.
K2 - Knowledge of new trends in language teaching and learning.

ABILITIES:

A3 - Ability to communicate effectively orally and to make presentations.
A4 - Ability to prepare clear and concise communications in writing.

ASSET QUALIFICATION

Certification in administration of Oral proficiency tests issued by a recognized institution such as American Council Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), Centre for Foreign Languages at Global Affairs Canada (CFSL), or Foreign Service Institute (State Department USA) (FSI).

ASSET COMPETENCY

o Proficiency at minimum level 3* in a foreign** language. (An exam can be administered)

**Foreign language is any language other than English and French.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Willingness and capacity to work overtime on short notice.
Willingness and capacity to travel occasionally.
