The immediate intent is to fill three (3) positions. However, a list of partially qualified candidates* will be established and may be used to fill similar positions with various language requirements, tenures and security requirements within the Fisheries and Oceans Canada in the National Capital Region.

EDUCATION:
For all streams:
• A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies or Marketing*.
* At the manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, may serve as an alternative to the minimum education standard.
EXPERIENCE:
All streams:
• Recent and significant* experience providing communications advice and recommendations to management**.
Stream 1: Strategic Communications Advisor
• Recent and significant* experience writing and revising communications products (for example: communications approach, news releases, backgrounders, speaking notes, media lines, articles, brochures).
• Recent and significant* experience in developing social media plan within a government (federal, provincial or municipal) or professional context.
Stream 2: Social Media Communications Advisor
• Recent and significant* experience in researching, writing, editing and publishing social media content within a government (federal, provincial or municipal) or professional context.
• Recent and significant* experience in providing analysis on the performance of digital communications activities.
Stream 3: Advertising Advisor
• Recent and significant* experience in planning, developing and implementing advertising campaigns.
• Recent and significant* experience in planning and coordinating advertising on social media and/or digital platforms.
*Recent and significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience that would normally be associated with the performance of these duties as a major function for approximately eighteen (18) months within the past four (4) years.
** Management is defined as manager or above.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE:
Stream 1: Strategic Communications Advisor
• Experience in issue management and crisis communications.
• Experience in media relations.
• Experience coordinating communications events or providing on-site support.
Stream 2: Social Media Communications Advisor
• Experience in use of social media management tools to disseminate and measure digital communications activities.
• Experience supporting live events on social media through live posting and live streaming.
• Experience in reviewing and performing quality control of bilingual documents and messages for social media.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Various language requirements
