The immediate need is to staff term or indeterminate positions in Toronto, Ontario.
A pool may be established to staff similar positions with various tenures (e.g. acting, term, assignment, indeterminate, deployment, etc), language requirements/profiles and conditions of employment within Environment and Climate Change Canada across Canada.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry, or some other science relevant position.
Experience in one of the following: (1) development or evaluation or application of earth system (environmental) models*, or (2) operation of advanced instrumentation under field or laboratory conditions for measurements directly related to a specific atmospheric issue, or (3) applying numerical or statistical methods for the analysis of climate, air quality, meteorological or other environmental data sets, or (4) development of software or data management systems for the support of atmospheric data analyses.
Experience in contributing to technical reports, presentations, or peer reviewed publications
Experience in carrying out scientific projects related to air quality, meteorology, or climate
*Earth System models are defined as numerical models that represent part of the earth system including the atmosphere, hydrosphere, cryosphere, geosphere, pedosphere, biosphere and could include fields including ecology, geology, glaciology, meteorology, oceanography, paleontology, and space science.

Graduation with a post-graduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, in a field relevant to the duties of the position.

Experience in the development of scientific programs in a UNIX/Linux environment, using a compiled programming language such as: C, C++, or FORTRAN
Experience in validating and applying data analysis programs written in a variety of compiled or interpreted languages such as: C, FORTRAN, UNIX shell scripting, Matlab, IDL, Python, R, Igor, or SAS.
Experience in the development and implementation of computer software or data management systems related to scientific data analysis.
Experience in the creation of metadata or documentation of data collection processes or documentation of code
Experience in the creation, manipulation, storage and visualization of geospatial data using a Geographic Information System (GIS) such as ArcGIS
Experience working with databases for geospatial or temporal application and related scientific data formats (e.g., netCDF, HDF or GRIB, SHP, GDB, GeoTIFF).
Experience planning and implementing project requirements related to acquiring, analyzing and archiving scientific data.
Experience in scientific field experiments in atmospheric sciences
Experience in scientific laboratory experiments related to atmospheric sciences
Experience manipulating and processing large volumes of data
Experience in the quality assurance and quality control of collected environmental data
