The Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) is one of the tribunals served by the Administrative Tribunals Support Service of Canada (ATSSC). The CIRB is an independent, representational, quasi-judicial tribunal responsible for the interpretation and administration of Part I (Industrial Relations) and certain provisions of Part II (Occupational Health and Safety) of the Canada Labour Code. The CIRB is also responsible for the interpretation and administration of Part II (Professional Relations) of the Status of the Artist Act.
The CIRB’s Communications Services team provides writing, editing, revision and translation services and specialized linguistic and terminological advice to members and employees of the CIRB.
A fully or partially assessed pool may be created and may be used to staff similar positions with various linguistic requirements, tenures and security clearances within the Canada Industrial Relations Board.
DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM: The intent of the process is to hire a Junior Communications Officer (in development) at the IS-02 group and level. Once the incumbent is deemed to have gained the experience, knowledge and abilities required to perform the full range of duties of a Communications Officer position (IS-03 group and level), the incumbent will be re-assessed and, if successful, may be appointed at the IS-03 level.

EDUCATION
A degree (bachelor’s degree) from a recognized university with an acceptable specialization in linguistics, translation, literature, or in a related discipline.
OR
A degree (bachelor’s degree) from a recognized university in any field of study INCLUDING the following experience:
Streams 1 and 2
Experience in providing linguistic advice.
Experience in verifying the accuracy and concordance of translated documents.
Stream 1
Experience in revising and proofreading material in French.
Experience in translating and/or adapting various documents from English into French.
Stream 2
Experience in revising and proofreading material in English.
Experience in translating and/or adapting various documents from French into English.
EXPERIENCE
Streams 1 and 2
Experience using Microsoft Office applications (including Outlook, Word).
Bilingual - Imperative (CCB/CCB)

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Working hours are between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Willingness and ability to work overtime on short notice.
Reliability Status security clearance
Applicants must complete the Public Service Entrance Exam Unsupervised Internet Test as part of the screening for this selection process. This exam consists of two sub-tests: the Test of Reasoning and the Test of Judgement. While all applicants are asked to take the first sub-test, you will only be invited to take the second sub-test if additional information is required to complete the assessment. You will have 90 minutes to complete the Test of Reasoning and 75 minutes to complete the Test of Judgement (if required). You must complete the test(s) before you submit your application for this position.
