Defence R&D Canada is an agency of the Department of National Defence that responds to the scientific and technological needs of the Canadian Armed Forces. Defence R&D Canada has become a leader in science and technology for national defence and public security. The agency is made up of a corporate office and several research centres located across Canada.
DRDC Ottawa is the department's lead authority and centre of expertise for radiofrequency communications, sensing, electronic warfare, network security and information operations technologies and systems, radiation effects, space systems, synthetic environments and modelling and simulation. Combining scientific expertise, unique experimental facilities, and strategic alliances, DRDC Ottawa provides solutions for today's defence and security challenges.

The initial intent of this process is to offer one temporary position for 12 months.

Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
Experience:
EX1. A minimum of three (3) years work experience as an electrical engineer, computer engineer, or a suitable engineering equivalent;
EX2. Experience in the specification, design, implementation and testing of Radio Frequency (RF) systems and sub-systems;
EX3. Experience in the development of software for data analysis or signal processing using Python, C#, MATLAB, or a similar high level programming language;

Experience:
AEX1. Experience in the development of software defined radio applications using GNU Radio or RedHawk;
AEX2. A minimum of two (2) years practical experience in the test and evaluation of Force Protection Electronics Countermeasure (FPECM) systems;
AEX3. A minimum of two (2) years practical experience in software development for automated laboratory measurement and data acquisition;
AEX4. A minimum of two (2) years practical experience in the design and fabrication of electronic circuits;
Knowledge:
AKN1. Knowledge of analog and digital circuit design;
AKN2. Knowledge of FPECM principles and applications;
AKN3. General knowledge of antenna theory, design and measurement;
Abilities and Skills:
AQAS1. Ability to develop a network of experts, colleagues and clients on which to draw during problem resolution;
AQAS2. Evidence of writing or contributing to published technical documents;

--- Participation in outdoor field trials. This could include an occasional requirement to work in remote locations, on aircrafts, ships or military ground vehicles;
--- Willingness to travel occasionally;
--- Occasional requirement to work overtime, especially during trials;
