Intent of the process

The intent is to staff positions in three area:

Stream 1. Business Intelligence and Reporting
Stream 2. Planning/Forecasting/ Resources Determination
Stream 3. Strategic/Corporate Planning

A pool of candidates may be created and used to staff similar positions within ESDC with various tenures.

Virtual work may be a possibility for certain position(s).

A Secondary school diploma or acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE (FOR ALL)

1) *Extensive and recent experience reporting on performance or strategic planning and developing briefing material to present for decision or information.

2) Experience building and maintaining relationship with various stakeholders.

3) Experience leading OR actively participating in working groups/committees.

Information on language requirements

EXPERIENCE (STREAM 1): Business Intelligence and Reporting

1) Experience in developing dashboards AND reporting on programs or projects.

2) Experience in gathering, interpreting and analyzing information from various sources to consolidate into Reports OR Information databases.

3) Experience using Power BI OR SAS OR IBM Cognos OR Tableau.

4) Extensive experience using Excel. Extensive experience is define as minimum 3 years of experience working in Excel performing the following tasks: Macros, Pivot Tables and Formulas.

EXPERIENCE (STREAM 2): Planning/Forecasting/Resources determination

1) Experience in creating OR updating a resource determination OR allocation model.

2) Experience developing operational costing models.

3) Experience developing operational forecasting models.

EXPERIENCE (STREAM 3): Strategic Planning

1) Experience in providing analysis, strategic advice, recommendations and briefing material to senior management (DG and above) for decision or information.

2) Experience in gathering, interpreting and analyzing complex information from various sources to consolidate into reports, plans, presentations or other documentation.

3) *Extensive and recent experience in strategic planning such as the development or coordination of input for corporate reports.

*Extensive and recent experience is defined as two (2) continuous years within the last five (5) years.

KNOWLEDGE (STREAM 1)

Extensive knowledge of Excel. Extensive knowledge is define as being able to perform the following tasks: Macros, Pivot Tables and Formulas.

Stream 1: Ability to think strategically, analyze issues and propose recommendations to manager level and above in the context of Business Intelligence and Reporting.

Stream 2: Ability to think strategically, analyze issues and propose recommendations to manager level and above in the context of Planning/Forecasting/Resources determination.

Stream 3: Ability to think strategically, analyze issues and propose recommendations to manager level and above in the context of Strategic Planning.

ABILITY (ALL STREAMS)

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

1. Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Degree equivalency

2. Experience in Project Management.

3. Experience in managing, leading or delivering programs, services or projects of national scope.

4. Experience in monitoring programs or services.

5. Experience working on strategic planning and reporting OR Cabinet documents (such as; Departmental Plan (DP), Departmental Results Report (DRR), Business plan, annual report, investment plan, business case, performance measurement strategy, TB Submission or Memorandum to Cabinet).

6. Experience in developing Key Performance Indicators and Targets.

7. **Extensive experience in providing strategic support, analysis and advice to senior managers (Director and above) in a Planning and Reporting environment.
