All testing and interviews will take place in Sarnia, Prescott, Parry Sound or Amherstburg. Candidates from outside the Federal Public Service will be required to pay for their own travel expenses.
Plans, leads, manages, prioritizes and controls the human, financial and materiel resources of a geographically dispersed, multi-disciplinary section that provides a wide range of specialized technical services and expertise in support of Canadian Coast Guard (CCG), Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO), and other government department assets.
The Area Supervisor will be responsible for supervising several foreman whose shops are responsible for construction, site maintenance, electrical, painting and yard services. Success is achieved by maintaining quality client and employee relationships, effectively managing the work unit and ensuring a safe work environment.
The Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) owns and operates the federal government's civilian fleet, and provides key maritime services to Canadians. As a Special Operating Agency of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO), the CCG helps DFO meet its responsibility to ensure safe and accessible waterways for Canadians. The CCG also plays a key role in ensuring the sustainable use and development of Canada's oceans and waterways.
The intent of this process is to staff one (1) position on a full-time, indeterminate basis in Prescott, ON. A pool of qualified candidates may be established from this process and may be used to staff similar positions with different tenures (i.e. on a term, acting or an indeterminate basis) in the Canadian Coast Guard.

Successful completion of post-secondary education technically relevant to the related field or an acceptable combination of education and experience related to the functions of the position.
Significant* experience in life cycle management of assets.
Experience in preparing formal work unit documentation such as multiyear work plans, maintenance plans or hazardous occurrence investigations.
Experience managing human and financial resources.
*Significant being at minimum 2 full years
Successful completion of a civil engineering diploma program from a recognized institution.
Trades certification in one of the following trades: carpentry, painting, electrical, welding or any other relevant trade certification.
Functional experience working with the Maximo asset management database system, or a similar program.
Experience in leading or managing a technical or operational project.
Experience in electronic data management, including input, extraction and presentation, with programs like Excel and Google Earth.
Experience in the maritime environment with the life cycle maintenance management of civil/structural and or mechanical assets and projects respective to Canadian Coast Guard and/or Government of Canada facilities, systems and equipment.
