The Department of National Defence (DND) is one of the largest federal government employers. DND's role is to provide services and support to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in their operations and missions at home and abroad. As a civilian employee, you will be an essential part of the Defence Team.
The intent of this process is to staff 2 indeterminate Project Engineers and 1 indeterminate Energy Efficiency Engineer in Edmonton, AB as well as 1 indeterminate Engineering Officer in Wainwright, AB.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions, with varying tenures in various locations.

Your résumé.
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering, geological engineering, naval architecture or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
• Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position
EX01: Recent* and significant** experience working in a multi-discipline engineering environment, reviewing, preparing and accepting engineering plans and drawings.
EX02: Recent* and significant** experience in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) equipment or systems for buildings. (essential for Energy Efficiency Engineer position only)
EX03: Recent* and significant** experience in delivering project programs while managing a given budget, scope and timelines
* Recent is defined as experience obtained in the last five (5) years.
** Significant is defined as experience associated with having performed a broad range of related activities on a regular basis, for the experience factor in question, which could normally be acquired over a period of approximately two (2) years.
AEX01: Experience working within the DND infrastructure and environment community.
AEX02: Experience in supervision*.
AEX03: Experience in energy audit processes including interpreting and implementing the results of the audits.
AEX04: Experience in writing technical specifications and in reading and interpreting building design drawings.
AEX05: Experience in the appraisal of energy efficiency measures for buildings using recognized energy simulation software.
AEX06: Experience with BOMA BEST, LEED, or equivalent.
AEX07: Experience in building energy metering including International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP).
AEX08: Experience in current best practices in regards to building envelope energy improvement
AEX09: Experience in assessing the potential application of renewable energy technologies
AEX10: Experience in promoting and conducting educational and behavioral change initiatives
AEX11: Experience working in a military environment
*Supervision is defined as having the authority to assign work, to assess performance and to take appropriate corrective measures when necessary, for a sustained period of time (ideally over one performance cycle, i.e. approximately one year).
