Duties

Employment and Social Development Canada is looking for excellent officers to provide services to citizens coming to Service Canada Centers.

Citizen Services Officers (CSO) welcome and guide citizens for various service offerings such as Passport, Social Insurance Number issuance, Employment Insurance Applications and Old Age Security.

Work environment

The work environment of a Citizen Services Officer is active and dynamic. Each member of the team contributes to the daily workload and ensures that citizens get the service they need.

Take note that this is not a pool for term or indeterminate positions but for a maximum of 90 working days/year. On-call employment only.

Intent of the process

A pool will be established for casual opportunities and could be used to fill short-term opportunities with specific language and operational requirements within the Department of Employment and Social Development Canada. Various conditions of employment and/or workplaces.

Casual/Occasional employees is defined as:

Casual employees are term employees of no more than 90 working days per year in a department or agency for which the Public Service Commission (PSC) has exclusive authority to make appointments. The period of temporary employment may be for more than one specified period, but must not exceed 90 working days in a department or agency per calendar year.

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (a satisfactory mark on the PSC test approved as an alternative to a high school diploma, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience).
