Work environment

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) is part of the core public service administration named in Schedule IV of the Financial Administration Act (FAA) and is also subject to the PSEA. This being said the TSB is an independent arm's length agency that reports to Parliament through the President of the Queen's Privy Council for Canada. The organization aspires to be a modern world-class organization that evolves and adapts as it strives to influence changes that advance transportation safety. The TSB has a strong and credible reputation in Canada and around the world.

The TSB is a small organization with approximately 220 employees and 5 Board Members, including the Chair. The organization operates in a decentralized manner through 10 locations across Canada. Employees work in a collegial and collaborative environment.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to create a pool of partially qualified candidates .This pool could be used to staff similar positions with various tenures, language profiles and/or requirements and security requirements.

EDUCATION:
A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
Recent* and significant** experience developing websites and publishing Web content using WET 4, including HTML5, CSS 3 and scripting languages

Experience applying, validating and reporting compliance with WCAG 2.0

Experience developing graphics for websites

* Recent: in the last 5 years
** Significant experience: an acceptable combination of breadth, depth, complexity of tasks that can normally be acquired in 2 consecutive years of work in the field

- Knowledge of the general structure and content of the TSB website
- Knowledge of the standards that apply to Government of Canada websites

ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
- Ability to design, develop, and publish web content that meets Government of Canada standards using WET4, including HTML5, CSS 3, and JavaScript
- Ability to design and develop for print (PDF) and the web using applications in Adobe Creative Cloud (e.g., Acrobat, Dreamweaver, InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) and MS Office
- Ability to advise managers on web page design and development
- Ability to develop solutions to technical problems
- Ability to communicate effectively orally
