This is an entry-level position. As part of the Spectrum Management Officer Recruitment and Professional Development Program (SMORPDP), through formal and on-the-job training, recruits will advance from an EL-01 (entry-level) classification to an EL-05 (working level) classification, which is normally achieved in 2 to 3 years. The current salary for the EL-01 is $51,401. The current salary range for the working EL-05 level is $66,605 - $81,666. The EL-01 to EL-05 rates of pay are subject to yearly-negotiated contractual adjustments.
Undertakes both formal and on-the-job training exercises as part of the Spectrum Management Officer Recruitment and Professional Development Program.
Evaluates proposals and recommends whether to issue or deny authorization for simple radiocommunication systems.
Participates in investigations and in inspections to ensure the quality of the radiocommunication spectrum.
Collaborates with third parties to deliver programs such as certification of radio operators.
The intent of the process is to staff positions across Canada. A pool of qualified candidates will be established, and may be used to staff similar positions with various language requirements within Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada-Spectrum Management Branch.

EDUCATION
ED1- Secondary school diploma AND an Electronics Engineering Technology* diploma/certificate or an acceptable combination of education, training or experience in the field of radiocommunication.
* Includes but not limited to acceptable programs such as Telecommunications, Wireless, Broadcasting Technologies or Avionics Engineering Technology or the completion of an acceptable training program of at least 2,400 hours, in electronics technology or in the radiocommunications field.
Students who are currently registered in an Electronics Engineering Technology diploma/certificate program with an expected graduation by Spring/Summer 2019 or earlier will be considered and if found qualified, may be offered a position upon completion of the educational program.
EXPERIENCE
EX1- Experience in office computer software (E-mail, word processing, Internet, spreadsheets and database systems).
EX2- Experience in operating test and measurement equipment.

KNOWLEDGE
K1- Knowledge of the theories of electronics and their current applications to modern Radiocommunications.
K2- Knowledge of antennas, transmission lines and electromagnetic wave propagation.
