This advertisement includes two streams, one for Claims Analyst positions, and another for Senior Claims Analysts positions.
Candidates from outside the federal public service will be required to pay for their own travel (including travel for assessment purposes), and may be required to pay for their own relocation expenses.
The unit is based in Edmonton’s downtown core, with a team of insurance, legal and risk management professionals that work on exciting policing cases originating from across the Prairie Provinces and Northern Territories. The claims resolved and the litigation managed includes those matters arising from: 1) Property Damage (police motor vehicle collisions, buildings); 2) Bodily Injury (police service dog encounters, motor vehicle collisions); 3) Policing Torts (negligence, Charter breaches, wrongful arrest, malicious prosecution); and, 4) Labour Relation / Employment claims.
In a collaborative and proactive manner, the team’s primary function is to facilitate the resolution of financial claims by and against the RCMP and to navigate complex court disclosure matters involving operational policing files. The unit provides advisory services in a fast paced environment to police officers in the field in order that they can continue to keep local communities safe.
We’re looking for candidates in two streams:
Stream 1: Claims Analyst
Stream 2: Senior Claims Analyst
The intent of this process is to immediately staff one (1) permanent Senior Claims Analyst and three (3) temporary Claims and Senior Claims Analysts in Edmonton, AB. Once the positions are filled, if any future temporary or permanent positions come available, candidates who have been found qualified may be contacted.

Stream 1 & 2:
Successful completion of two years of a post-secondary program with acceptable specialization in social science, statistics, library/archival work or a law-related field OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
– Experience working in a legal or insurance claims environment.
– Experience negotiating bodily injury or property damage claims OR experience working on civil litigation files.
– Experience conducting legal research OR analyzing legislation and case law.
Stream 2:
– Experience mentoring and/or providing direction to employees in a work environment.
Stream 1 & 2:
– Canadian Risk Management Designation.
– Experience providing claims management services for a policing organization.
– Experience working with Government policies.
English essential
The functions and duties of the position will only require the use of English.
