Intent of the process

This process will be used to staff similar positions within the Canadian Coast Guard with employment tenures, language requirements, security requirements, conditions of employment and work locations that will vary depending on the needs of the positions being staffed.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

A High school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience related to the position to be filled.

Degree equivalency

Recent experience in supervising employees, including delegation and supervision of work (by recent, we mean in the last five years approximately).

Information on language requirements

KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of Part II of the Canada Labor Code Occupational Health and Safety.

ABILITY:
Ability to prepare work plans, assign tasks and supervise work.
Ability to manage changing operational priorities on short notice and stress.
Ability to award low value contracts (< 10k $).
Ability to use Microsoft Office software effectively.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Crane operator's certificate
Class 1 Driver's License - Heavy Vehicles

Knowledge of WHMIS and TDG.
Knowledge of Maximo software or other similar software

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

Valid medical examination.
Possess a valid driver's license.
Willingness and ability to climb laps and work at a height of up to 120 feet.
Willingness and ability to travel in vehicles, ships, boats, barges, helicopters and off-road vehicles.
Willingness and ability to work in isolated places and walk on rough terrain.
Willingness and ability to work overtime as needed.
Willingness and ability to work in a context where operational priorities are changing on short notice.
