The purpose of this position is to lead and manage OSFI’s supervisory work in its assessment of culture and conduct risk practices, governance, and regulatory compliance at federally regulated financial institutions (FRFIs). The Managing Director contributes to OSFI’s overall mission of safeguarding depositors and policyholders from undue loss and contributes to OSFI’s public confidence in a competitive financial system. The responsibility includes ensuring that an expert level of knowledge is maintained within OSFI, and hence the ongoing training and development of staff, as appropriate.
Who we are:
The Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) is an independent agency of the Government of Canada, established in 1987 to contribute to the safety and soundness of the Canadian financial system. OSFI supervises and regulates federally registered banks and insurers, trust and loan companies, as well as private pension plans subject to federal oversight.
Risk Support Sector:
The Risk Support Sector is a cross-industry function within OSFI that evaluates specific aspects of risk management capability within federally regulated financial institutions (FRFIs). The sector’s horizontal perspective on risk informs the development of supervisory risk assessments and regulatory expectations for Canada.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
• A degree from a post secondary institution with specialization in behavioural science organizational behaviour, behavioural economics, industrial/organizational psychology or other relevant field OR an acceptable combination of education, experience and/or training.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
• Significant experience at the senior management level developing, managing, assessing or implementing policies and/or frameworks related to organizational behaviour management (e.g. culture and conduct risk).
• Significant experience in developing, managing and leading teams of people.
• Extensive experience in presenting policy recommendations to senior executives.
• Experience in consulting and collaborating with executive level stakeholders.

ASSET EDUCATION
• A relevant post-graduate degree and/or a relevant professional designation.
ASSET EXPERIENCE
You may be required to meet a combination of any of these asset experience criteria:
• Recent and significant experience at the senior management level developing, managing, assessing or implementing policies and/or frameworks in culture and conduct risk in the Financial services industry*.
• Recent and significant experience at the senior management level developing, managing, assessing or implementing policies and/or frameworks in organizational behaviour management in the Financial services industry*.
• Experience in reviewing and critiquing corporate culture and conduct risk practices.
• Significant experience in dealing with Board of Directors or Board members of institutions, or senior management of Federally Regulated Financial Institutions, particularly in challenging/difficult situations.
• Significant experience dealing with complex risk management issues requiring extensive analysis, policy development and development of recommendations and solutions in culture and conduct risk.
• Significant experience in managing projects and leading a team.
*Financial services industry includes experience working in a financial institution, including banks, insurance companies, pension funds, wealth management firms, and accounting firms (dealing with audits), as well as government departments that directly deal with the supervision and regulation of these institutions, or other relevant areas.
