As the go to for IT support you will be tasked with:
- Providing technical support to clients having issues with their computers, software and programs, and mobile devises.
- Updating and maintaining IT infrastructure.
- Life cycling of IT equipment (you could be making someone’s day with a new computer!).

Yellowknife is a city like no other. It sits on the north shore of Great Slave Lake, the ninth-largest lake in the world, and the deepest recorded lake in North America. Today, Yellowknife is home to 20,000 people, including Dene, Métis, and Inuit from across the Northwest Territories, and settlers from around the world. Yellowknife, also known as Somba K’e, was built on Chief Drygeese Territory, traditional land of the Yellowknives Dene.
Employees of the Departments outlined in Schedule I of the Financial Administration Act are entitled to certain allowances in addition to their regular salary, as Yellowknife has been designated an isolated post. Allowances are provided yearly.
- Environmental Allowance: $3959 for those with dependents, $2375 for those without dependents.
- Living Cost Differential Allowance: $6877 for those with dependents, $4127 for those without dependents.
- Fuel and Utilities Differential Allowance: $7275 for those with dependents, $4425 for those without dependents.
We are looking for an innovative and energetic computer science specialist to support 3 Canadian Division clients in our Yellowknife Detachment on a full time, permanent basis.

Completion of two years of a post-secondary program with a computer science or information management or information technology focus, or focus in an area related to the position being staffed OR a combination of training and experience determined as acceptable by the assessment board.
Experience analyzing business or client requirements.
Experience providing IM/IT support to clients in a Windows based work environment.

Ability to trouble shoot IT equipment and devices issues for clients.
Successful completion of a four year post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.
Experience providing user support and troubleshooting for end-user and mobile devices such as smartphones, or laptops.
Experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting IT equipment and devices.
Experience working with the Department of National Defence, employment category examples include but are not limited to student employment (FSWEP, COOP), casual employment, current or released regular force members, primary reservists, term employees, previous DND employees, current DND employees.
At minimum you will need to meet a Reliability screening, other positions may require a Secret Security clearance.
If you are the successful candidate, you will need to meet the following before starting work, and maintain all conditions throughout your employment:
- Willing and able to work overtime as required, possibly on short notice.
- Willing and able to travel, within and outside the geographic area, possibly with overnight requirements, as needed.
- Willing and able to attend training as required.
- Willing and able to work in an isolated post.
- Successfully complete a Category 1 Medical Exam as outlined by Occupational Health Evaluation Standard defined by the Treasury Board of Canada.
- A valid provincial or territorial driver’s licence without limitations.
- Willing and able to obtain and maintain a DND 404.

Practical Test - May be administered to assess various pieces of merit. This could be a test where you walk a client through a problem, or a step by step action plan to address an issue for example.
