The CRTC is an administrative tribunal that regulates and supervises broadcasting and telecommunications in the public interest. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
Successful completion of two (2) years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Notes:
Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience. They must accept as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the CS group.
It is the candidate’s responsibility to obtain the appropriate documentation from the recognized educational institution. Candidates will be required to provide proof of education credentials (i.e. original version of diploma or transcript(s)) if or when invited to the interview stage.
Foreign educational credentials must be assessed by a recognized credential assessment service. If the candidate has been educated outside of Canada, it is the candidate's responsibility to have his or her certificates and/or diplomas assessed against Canadian educational standards. Degree equivalency
EXPERIENCE:
Recent* and significant** experience providing technical guidance as a primary contributor to an application development project, solution, or service.
Recent* and significant** experience developing web applications using a modern programming language and web application framework: Python-Django, Ruby on Rails, Java-Spring, Javascript-React or equivalent combination.
Recent* and significant** experience using relational databases to persist and access data using SQL or ORM tools.
Recent* experience interacting with clients or users to gather requirements, or conduct training, or technical guidance.
Definitions:
* Recent experience is defined as experience usually acquired within the last five (5) years.
** Significant experience is defined as experience associated with having performed a broad range of activities usually acquired over the course of three (3) years.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Bachelor Degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.
EXPERIENCE:
Recent* experience working in a cyber security environment (acceptable experience includes but is not limited to: Analyzing cyber data; Programming; Digital artifact analysis; IT systems architecture or administration; IT security technologies; Cyber security operations; Cyber incident management; Risk management; IT security awareness and training).
Recent* experience working on systems handling large datasets, including performance tuning.
Recent* experience implementing Data Automation, Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning or Data-mining techniques.
Recent* experience using a modern source-code repository (e.g. Git).
Recent* experience installing and configuring clusters for non-relational data storage (e.g. MongoDB), compute (e.g. Apache Spark), or search/indexing (e.g. ElasticSearch).
Recent* experience working in an agile application development environment.
