STREAM 1: BIOLOGIST
Fish and Fish Habitat Protection Biologist:
Provide evidence-based advice to avoid, mitigate, offset, and restore impacts of development projects on fish and fish habitat; integrate fish and fish habitat protection objectives into freshwater and coastal planning processes; and enable the protection and conservation of fish habitats in support of the Fish and Fish Habitat Protection Program.
Species at Risk Biologist:
Assist in the planning, preparation and participation in meetings with Indigenous groups, industry and provincial partners; coordinate multiple projects for the Species at Risk program; synthesize scientific data and information from multiple internal and external sources; participate in the writing and review of technical documents related to the protection and recovery of species at risk; facilitate and develop partnerships in order to better coordinate and/or assist in the implementation of management plans, recovery strategies and/or action plans for species at risk.
Oceans Biologist:
Coordinate or participate in the writing, compilation and review of various technical or policy documents related to oceans management issues. Assist in advancing initiatives related to marine protected area planning and management, marine spatial planning, and marine environmental quality including coordinate and/or participate in meetings with internal partners, with provincial and federal partners, with Indigenous groups and with industry associations on oceans management issues.
STREAM 2: GEOSPATIAL ANALYST
Conduct research and analysis on environmental issues (for example, cumulative effects on fish and fish habitat, climate change, sustainable development) and provides monitoring, analysis and graphical representation of data in support of the Fish and Fish Habitat Protection, the Oceans, and the Species at Risk programs.

EDUCATION
Stream 1: Biologist
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a biological, natural, physical or applied science with specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position.
Stream 2: Geospatial Analyst
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a natural, physical or applied science with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, biology, geomatics, remote sensing, GIS or some other science field relevant to duties of the position.
EXPERIENCE
Stream 1: Biologist
Experience working on projects related to natural resources management or in a regulatory context.
Experience in managing project(s) and respecting timelines.
Experience in preparing written correspondence, briefing materials or scientific documents.
Stream 2: Geospatial Analyst
Experience in carrying out a number of concurrent research projects, studies, and/or investigations to achieve clearly-defined project or study objectives in geospatial analysis.
Experience working with geospatial tools, or in data management, or in database management and reporting.
EDUCATION (ASSETS)
Stream 1: Biologist
A graduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a natural, physical or applied science with specialization in a field related to the duties of the position.
Stream 2: Geospatial Analyst
Graduation with a degree in geomatics from a recognized post-secondary institution.
EXPERIENCE (ASSETS)
Stream 1 and 2
Experience in preparing and providing presentations to a variety of audiences.
Experience in participating in Indigenous, industry or partner engagement or consultations.
Stream 1: Biologist
Experience reviewing and evaluating impacts of human activities on aquatic species or their environments.
Experience in working collaboratively with government or non government partners.
Experience in interpreting environmental laws, regulations or policies.
Stream 2: Geospatial Analyst
Experience using ESRI geospatial software suite in order to create maps and analyse ecological or socio-economic data.
Experience customizing or automating geospatial processes.
Experience designing, managing or implementing geospatial databases.
Experience in the development of web mapping applications.
