Duties

The Geo-Spatial and Data Technologist is a key part of the "K" Division Strategic Analysis and Research Unit. This position is responsible for the development, production and maintenance of mapping products that visualize crime and other trends in Alberta. The position is the administrator of the ArcGIS Enterprise Server, expert on the public facing crime map platform (AGOL), teaching, and providing support on all things geo-spatial.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Successful completion of a diploma in Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) or related field of study or an ESRI Associate or Professional Certificate in ArcGIS for Desktop or ArcGIS Server.

Degree equivalency

Recent (in the last 24 months) experience in the use of GIS and ArcGIS Server.
Experience providing support on the use of GIS to clients.
Recent (in the last 24 months) experience with MS Excel.

Ability to communicate effectively in writing

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Completion of a degree in GIS or related field of study.

Degree equivalency

Experience in database development and management.
Experience creating custom web maps and web applications using HTML5/CCS and JavaScript.

Conditions of employment

Top Secret security clearance - NOTE: Successful candidates will require a valid RCMP security clearance prior to appointment and throughout the tenure of their employment. The process to obtain RCMP security clearance involves a security/reliability interview and a field investigation regarding matters of criminal activity which includes reference checks, verification of credit/financial status, education, employment, etc. As such, the process may take several weeks or months to complete.
