The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is Canada's second largest law enforcement organization, working 24/7 to protect Canada's borders by preventing high-risk people and goods from crossing into Canada while facilitating legitimate trade and travel, with over 15,000 employees working across Canada.

Intent of the process

This process will be used to staff the following positions:
Administrative Assistant (CR-04)
Marine Enforcement Clerk (CR-04)
Program Support Clerk (CR-04)
Senior Long Room Clerk (CR-04)

A pool of qualified candidates may be established to staff similar positions throughout Pacific Region.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
- A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternative*.

*The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:

1. A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
2. An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Note: Proof of an educational credential that is higher than the education required may be acceptable. For example, proof of a bachelor's degree may be acceptable when a secondary school diploma is required.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in the capture, retrieval, compilation, manipulation or archiving of data using computer software or systems.
- Experience in using Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, outlook, or programs similar to these applications.
- Experience providing service to clients by telephone, in person or in writing.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

ASSET EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working with Accelerated Commercial Release Operations Support System (ACROSS).
- Experience working with Customs Commercial System (CCS).
- Experience working with cash.
- Experience working with Global Case Management System (GCMS).
- Experience working with the Systems Applications Products (SAP).
- Experience working with the Government of Canada’s various documents and records management systems (GCDOCs).
- Experience providing accounting or financial support services.
- Experience providing administrative support services to senior management.
- Experience organizing meetings, teleconferences, videoconferences, information sessions or events.
- Experience working in an enforcement or security organization.
- Experience processing import or export documentation.
- Experience using an electronic filing system.

Conditions of employment

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The following conditions of employment are applicable to all positions:

- Reliability and Security: Reliability Status
- Overtime may be required.
- Travel may be required.
- Possess and maintain a valid unrestricted driver’s license, or the mobility normally associated with the possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Lift and carry light-weight objects such as file boxes, supplies, equipment, laptops, etc.
- Some positions may require one to work various shifts, including evening, nights and weekends.
- Some positions may require Secret security clearance.
- Some positions may require successful completion of the Canadian Firearms Safety Course.

You may be assessed using a variety of assessment tools, such as, but not limited to: standardized tests, written exams, interviews, simulation exercises, reference checks, self-assessments, candidate achievement record, etc.

Please note that your overall conduct and communications, including email correspondence, throughout the entire process may be used in the assessment of qualifications and competencies.

You must provide proof of your education credentials. You will be advised to provide the documents later in the process. If you were educated outside of Canada, you must have your certificates and/or diplomas assessed against Canadian education standards. Management may choose to invoke asset qualifications at any point of the process.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
