Duties

Effectively manage a portfolio of projects, including assessing applications for funding, addressing and reporting on emerging issues, and monitoring funding agreements with recipients.

Serve as an Ambassador for FedDev Ontario by developing and maintaining active networks inside and outside the Agency and identifying opportunities to engage and consult with stakeholders.

Work collaboratively and productively with colleagues across the Agency, sharing information and participating in dynamic internal working groups to support improved efficiency, program evaluations, and initiatives to modernize business practices.

Consistent with the Government of Canada’s Values and Ethics Code, contribute to a healthy workplace that demonstrates respect for people and contribution to a high performing, world class public service.

Intent of the process

A pool will be established as a result of this process and may be used to fill similar positions with various tenures (Acting, Assignment, Deployment, Indeterminate, Secondment, Specified Period), language requirements and security profiles in various locations within the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Degree from a recognized university with a specialization in commerce, economics, business administration, finance, accounting, or other specialty relevant to the position, or a degree in a specialization other than those listed above combined with a minimum of two years’ experience relevant to the position being staffed.

Degree equivalency

Significant experience* in managing complex projects.

Experience evaluating project proposals, applications or business plans.

Experience building and maintaining partnerships and negotiating with a broad spectrum of stakeholders** to achieve results.

* Significant is defined as relevant experience normally acquired through the full time performance of duties for at least two years.
** Stakeholders refers to federal, provincial, or municipal government officials, private sector organizations, or not-for profit organizations.

Ability to evaluate economic development project proposals, applications for funding, or business plans and prepare recommendations for management.

Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple high priority tasks with competing deadlines.

Master’s Degree in a specialization relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

Experience working with programs, projects, or initiatives related to one or more of the following areas:
a) Investment attraction
b) Business strategy
c) Commercialization of technologies
d) Rural economic development
e) Emerging technologies

Experience in leading a project team, initiative, or working group.

Significant* experience in financial analysis.

Experience using software such PowerPoint to develop presentations.

* Significant is defined as relevant experience normally acquired through the full time performance of duties for at least two years.
