Education:
Graduation with a master’s degree or a doctorate degree, from a recognized post-secondary institution, with a specialization in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or some other speciality related to the position
Note:
The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.
Experience:
Experience developing and executing a research project to completion.
Experience in providing written contributions, as an author, to peer-reviewed scientific publications.
Experience conducting mechanical testing of metallic materials.
Experience conducting metallurgical analysis of metallic materials.
Asset Experience:
Experience conducting structural finite element analysis with static or dynamically applied loads.
Experience conducting high strain rate testing of materials.
Experience conducting fatigue and fracture testing of materials.
Experience conducting research on corrosion of metals.
Experience conducting research on welding or joining of metals.
Experience as lead author of peer-reviewed scientific publications.
Experience managing or working as part of a multi-disciplinary research team.
Experience formulating, proposing, conducting and leading research and development projects.

Operational Requirements:
• May be required to travel by commercial air, economy class, within North America several times a year for for short durations (courses, conferences, meetings, trials, etc.)
• Willing and able to conduct research activities aboard naval platforms, alongside or at sea
• May be required to work overtime
• Adheres to safety procedures including, but not limited to wearing product specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, gloves applicable to the process being performed, safety glasses, and other required equipment.
