At Indigenous Services Canada, we work in collaboration with partners to improve access to high quality services for First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities. Our vision is to support and empower Indigenous people so that they can independently provide services and address the different socio-economic conditions in their communities.

Indigenous cultures are at the heart of the department's mandate and broadening our horizons on them not only allows us to better fulfill our role, but also to become more aware of the history of First Nations, Métis and Inuit. That is why we recognize the importance for employees to deepen, share their knowledge and discover on this matter through workshops and awareness activities throughout the year.

The regional office is located in Amherst, a central city within the Maritime provinces located at 40 minutes from Moncton, NB. It stands out for the variety of its businesses, mainly family businesses, historic buildings and charming architecture. Amherst is known for its festivals and activities, which you will discover during the summer months. Located in Nova Scotia, the Atlantic Regional Office provide services to the provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. This means support for 34 First Nations and 5 Inuit communities.

Do you live far from the regional office? You may be eligible for the relocation program for new employees and receive up to five thousand dollars ($5,000), under certain conditions.

Intent of the process

Here is an overview of the job profiles at our office:

Program Administration (PM)
If you enjoy planning, directing, monitoring and building partnerships, come and use your skills to implement socio-economic services and programs for First Nations. The employees responsible for administering the programs are the first point of contact with our clients.

Administrative Services and Support (AS-CR)
Can you easily compose in an environment where priorities are changing and tasks are varied? Do you stand out for your professionalism, your autonomy, your efficiency and your sense of organization? You are the administration professional we are looking for to provide quality administrative service to communities or employees.

Financial Management (FI)
Do you stand out for your great analytical and synthesis skills, as well as being open, curious and on the lookout for economic and financial news? Do you have financial knowledge, like analyzing financial data, making forecasts, producing reports and monitoring budgets? Join our financial services and let yourself be guided by the Financial Administration Act.

Communication (IS)
Would you like to advise and support the region in terms of internal and external communications? If you are interested in getting involved in media relations, contributing to ministerial correspondence, organizing and coordinating visits from ministers and deputy ministers to the regions, the Communications Division is waiting for you!

Information Management and Information Technology (AS-CS)
IM: You are passionate about document management, join the regional team to provide information management advice and support and contribute to a paperless future.
IT: Are you curious about new technologies, do you stand out for your strong analytical skills, your organization and your rigour? Become an information technology programmer, analyst or technician.

Engineering (EN-ENG)
Are you a graduate in civil, mechanical or any other field of engineering and would like to apply your skills to infrastructure projects in First Nations, the North and other Aboriginal communities? Join our team and you will have the opportunity to provide help and advice in the many infrastructure projects: housing, schools, water supply and more... You will be able to visit communities in the regions to visit facilities and construction sites!

Without limiting the previous descriptions, we have employment opportunities in other disciplines such as human resources (PE, AS, CR), environment (PC), economic development (CO), policy analysis (EC).
