The Area Supervisor in Prince Rupert will be responsible for supervising three foreman and numerous projects being run out of the following three shops: carpentry; electrical/lamp tech/yard; and machine. This position is an excellent opportunity for a highly-motivated individual with a strong Human and financial resources background and sound leadership skills. Success will come from maintaining quality client and employee relationships, effectively managing the work of the operations team and ensuring a safe work environment.

The immediate need is to staff one indeterminate position located in Prince Rupert, B.C. A pool of qualified candidates will also be established for the Prince Rupert location, to potentially staff similar positions on a temporary (casual, term, acting) or permanent (indeterminate) basis if required by the Canadian Coast Guard.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree, diploma or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution as a Technician/Technologist/ or tradesperson.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of two years experience preparing/completing work unit documents such as; multiyear work plans, training plans, repair specifications, budget forecasts and project briefings.
Experience gathering information in order to provide recommendations to management.
Experience working with various clients/stakeholders and effectively resolving issues.
Significant experience in managing human* and financial** resources
**For significant human resources management, applicants must clearly demonstrate that they have supervised staff, assigned work; managed and assessed performance for a period of no less than 2 years
**For significant financial resources management applicants must clearly demonstrate that they have managed a budget and been accountable for sound financial planning and reporting for a period of no less than 2 years.

EXPERIENCE
Experience in implementing organization change. Experience managing technical or operations projects.
Experience in the maritime environment with the life cycle maintenance management of civil/structural and or mechanical assets and projects respective to Canadian Coast Guard and/or GOC facilities, systems and equipment
Experience in hiring consultants, managing project contracts, and monitoring contractors.
Experience operating a computer using MS office software at an intermediate level (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer).
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of principles and practices in project management.
Reliability Status security clearance - CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Valid Health Canada Medical.
Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License.
Willing and able to climb towers and work at heights in excess of 2.4m.
Willing and able to travel for up to 3 week periods of time to remote sites via; trucks, boats and aircraft.
Willing and able to work weekends/overtime and travel on short notice.
Willing and able to access remote sites over rugged terrain and work in extremes of environmental condition on land and at sea.
